From the Pastor's Desk
The House of God is a place where God meets with His people in Worship and Celebration. This is a core value of our church. Worship is a verb – it is something that we do. It is a response with the most profound gratitude that we have been given free access to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Worship is not a format. It is not going through a ritualistic motion. It is really meaning what we sing and say and pray. It is a holy awe that we humans are welcome into the presence of God. When we worship we respond with all that we are to all that He is. The word “worship” comes from the old English “worthship”. When we worship God we acknowledge that He and He alone is worthy of our worship!
Worship starts as a private matter as we spend time alone with God each day. This time alone with God is for cultivating our souls and strengthening our relationship with him. Every Christian needs private worship. We are exhorted in Hebrews 13: 15 to ‘continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of our lips that confess his name.’ Worship is also corporate and public. This is the joining together with other believers to adore and praise the Almighty God; to applaud, honor and acknowledge the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is in this setting that God meets with us his children; that we are fed from his Holy Word, and we offer to him the sacrifices of our lips, and the sacrifices of our tithes and offerings. It is in this setting that the All-Powerful God responds to us his children in tender mercy, breathing help, and healing, and deliverance, and peace, and joy; strengthening our faith, and building us up in our inner-man as he prepares us for heaven. It is in this setting that we are drawn closer and closer to God. For this sanctuary is God’s house! Here there is salvation for the sinner, restoration for the backslider, grace for the fallen, healing for the sick and deliverance for the captive. In our sanctuary there is the sound of joyful worship, as we praise and celebrate the Almighty God.
I invite you to join the celebration! Come and join us in worshiping the Lord!
